Softwind Systems Ltd was incorporated in 1998. The original mandate of Softwind Systems was to create marketable software. The name Softwind is derived from Software for Windows. In 1998, the owner of the company, Lowell Buschert, started an independent consulting business and the principal business at that time was contracts with Government ministries and some private companies.
In 2002, Softwind Systems adopted a new vision which included providing information technology services to the small business sector. The centerpiece of this vision was internet leverage to create benefits for small business rising out of B2B and B2C interactions.
Softwind Systems are pursuing strategic initiatives technology integration. Currently their projects range from providing contracting services to the eHealth project with the British Columbia Government. This is an initiative to develop electronic work flows for medical practitioners as well as a centralized medical profile for the citizens of British Columbia that is accessible from all healthcare providers and is part of the pan-canadian electronic health record standard.
Another project is developing a prototype web application for a hotel client in Arizona utilizing Ruby on Rails as the development framework. The objectives are to develop portable web services and web based components that can be adapted to any hotel site incorporating rich content managed in deep internet (databases). ROR, an open sourced development platform has overwhelming support in the IT community and business and provides a stable, simpler and high performance implementation for web based business applications used in the hospitality industry.
